china.gifThe Silk Street market in Beijing, popular among tourists for cheap goods, tarnished its reputation as authorities seized fake name-brand sneakers and sports wear in the latest raid at the market.

According to China Daily , law enforcement workers on Saturday confiscated 553 shoes of pirated Nike, 408 counterfeit Adidas shoes and 160 fake sports suits of the two famous brands after inspecting 11 booths at the market.

An official with the Chaoyang branch of the Beijing Administration of Industry and Commerce said they had dealt with dozens of cases of fake products in the shopping mall so far this year.

It doesn't surprise me one bit that they are selling fake goods in China. If the price is too good to be true, it probably is. I'm sure most tourist that goes to shop there probably has a good idea.

I have 'friends' that go to China just to buy fake electronics, movies and other pirated goods. The pirated goods usually have pretty good quality, works just like the real thing and sometimes it also comes with a warranty! Even if it does break down, the price is so cheap that it is actually worth the risk.

Of course I will not buy any pirated goods and I do not condone that behaviour. Say no to pirates and stay in school.
