dreamcast.jpgSEGA Corporation has filed a new application in August 2007 to protect the trademark Dreamcast. This might be an indication that the once popular Japanese console maker is planning on making a return to the console manufacturing market with the Dreamcast 2.

According to United States Patent and Trademark Office's (USPTO) Trademark Applications and Registrations Retrieval (TARR) dated August 13 2007, the trademark application is for the international class 009 which is:

home video game machines; player-operated electronic controllers for electronic video game machines; video game interactive controller, namely, hand held pads, and floor pads or mats; joysticks for video games; computer cursor control devices, namely, computer mouse; flash memory cards; video game software, computer game programs

This is certainly exciting news as Dreamcast was one of the best consoles that I've ever played. It is almost comparable to the Super Nintendo in terms of games and fun factor.
