This list of less-common, often forgotten, items that you should take to college by College Advice has some of the things that I wish I brought when I moved into the residence. If only I had this list before I moved into the residence, it would save me quite a bit of a headache and it would probably help you too.

Out of the 18 that he listed here, these are the top 3 that I wish I brought:

Ear plugs : My god, I wish I had these a billion times over. You are guaranteed to run into someone that is annoying and plays music or talk too loudly. This is a must have for anyone moving into any residence in my humble opinion.

Flip flops or any type of shower shoe : Not only good for showering, I do think you need them if you just want to go to the corner store. Another thing that is guaranteed is that the fire alarm will go off a lot. So you need some sort of shoes you can just slip on quickly.

Storage containers/Crates : This not only helps you to keep organized, you also need this when you go do your laundry. I have seen people carrying plastic bags full of clothes to the laundromat and it looks a bit silly.
