iphone2.jpgWe have seen iPhone clones before but this one seems to do one better. The phone, CECT P168,  does more than copy the slick no button interface of Apple's iPhone.

It seems to improve upon the iPhone as it ran popular mobile software that the iPhone wouldn't and the phone will work with nearly every worldwide cellphone carrier, not just AT&T, and not only in the U.S.

You can buy them from eBay here and it ships worldwide. Have a look at the quality and style of CECT P168 which costs roughly $230 US (+S&H) from China:

This begs the question if this really is a pirated version of the iPhone. It does look similar, the interface is similar and it even has the default wall paper background as the iPhone. Other than that, there seems to be no other similarities that I can see from the video.

Here's a side by side comparison of the two phones. iPhone on the left, CECT P168 on the right.

What, if any, legal action could Apple take if they were to pursue one? Registered designs? Patents? They certainly did not claim it's an iPhone or used any of the Apple or iPhone trademarks. It will be interesting to see what Apple's reaction, if any, to this would be.
