Callaway settles patent dispute

callaway.jpgCallaway Golf and TaylorMade Golf said they reached a settlement and patent license agreement pertaining to certain technologies used in golfing-related products.

Accordng to Reuters,  the companies said the details of the settlement were confidential.

Under the terms of the agreement, each company will have specified rights to make products under patents owned by the other.


In other Callaway news, Bloomberg reports that Callaway Golf on won a jury verdict against Fortune Brands Acushnet unit that three of its golf-ball patents are valid, clearing the way for a further trial on damages.

Callaway sued last year in federal court in Delaware contending Acushnet infringed patents for multilayered golf balls.

 

The jury deliberated for two days before affirming three of the patents. It ruled that two claims of another patent also were valid, and that one was invalid.


No wonder these golf balls are so expensive. Then again, I need every bit I can get. If these patented balls can get me 10 more yards, the price can be justified.
